Thursday Drink Night – Beer Cocktails

by KeithP on November 19, 2010

Being in a bit of a rush last night, and honestly not knowing that the start time for TDN has been changed, I logged on early with only about a half hour or so of time for mixing and chatting.  Recognizing that I was way too early and seeing that the theme for this evening was beer-based drinks I shot out my idea (one that had been tasted/tested the prior weekend) and asked that it be posted when ready (after I had left).

Ta-Da (we think, a theSpeakista original): mix 1 1/2 oz of blended scotch, 1/2 oz each of Drambuie and yellow Chartreuse and 3 oz of stout beer over ice until well chilled.  Add to a rocks glass with several large cubed ice pieces include.  Sip away.

I have to say that on paper this one may look odd – ok, it looks really odd but in a glass I think its kinda of quirky, weird and oddly good.  For me the stout and the scotch work nicely and the Drambuie and yellow Chartreuse add a honey and sweetening profile to the mix to cut the edge off the two main ingredients.

Odd? yes.  Different? Hell yes.  What do you think?
